The Scene: Amar Thirty

Known for being the flyest man in the room Amar Thirty is also creating a vibe that we have been listening to on loop. He recently dropped his sophomore tape 30MPH; home to 10 tracks which speak on his life, relationships, his introspective thoughts and plenty more.

HOW DO YOU LIKE TO BE PERCEIVED?

“Interesting question. I’m not sure if this is a cliche answer but I would like to be perceived as an artist who is dedicated to the art and stays true to self. There’s a lot of things I don’t care about and I like to do what I want as this is when I feel most free. I want to show anyone with an open mind in the ends especially the youth, that you can make whatever music you want, dress how you want, rock whatever hairstyle etc without feeling like a complete outcast.”

PILOT – NEXT STAGE OF YOUR LIFE IS GOING TO BE THE MOST CONFUSING… WHY DO YOU FEEL LIKE THIS?

“That was in reference to a past relationship. Things are changing, my perception on life, getting more attention, lifestyle is changing so you’ve got to figure these things out. However I also believe if you’re really in tune with yourself these things won’t/shouldn’t rattle you too much.”

FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE THIS MAY BE THEIR FIRST INTRODUCTION TO YOU, WHAT DO YOU WANT THEM TO TAKE FROM THIS TAPE?

“Besides thinking I’m a great artist and that they enjoy the music. I’d like for them to think this is new and different. I believe I’ve tapped into something unique so hopefully that’s recognised.”

NO COLLABS ON THE TAPE, WHY?

“Everything was recorded in my bedroom and I felt as though everything I needed to say on the song was said so a feature genuinely never really crossed my mind. My next tape will definitely have features because I’ve been going studio a lot more with other artists and producers.”

What is your PERSONAL FAVOURITE SONG ON 30MPH?

“Very difficult question, I don’t really have favourites of anything. If I had to pick I’d say perhaps Real Onez.”

 WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

“My Mum, the feeling of executing/accomplishing what was in your head and women.”

WHEN YOU WEREN’T CREATING THIS TAPE, WHAT ELSE WERE YOU DOING?

“Getting to the money, shopping, making the most of getting lit with the mandem whilst being cuffed lol.”

FAVOURITE MOMENT WHILST CREATING 30MPH?

“When I made Been A While it was like 1am and I was by myself in my room recording. Every section of the song such as chorus, verse etc I had to stop. I recorded half the chorus stopped and was bare gassed like rah is that really how I’m coming lol. Then recorded the second half of the chorus and was bare gassed. That process repeated itself till the end of recording the song.”

MOST CHALLENGING PART ABOUT CREATING 30MPH?

“Probably mixing the whole tape, going through each song individually but it was fun at the same time, got to experiment with transitioning between songs.. soon be Frank Ocean Nights level with it.”

WHAT’S NEXT?

“3 music videos on the way, got a bunch of shoots I’m modelling for and also working on my next tape for next year.”

Keep him on your radar, next up on the scene.
